RoHS

RoHS is the abbreviation of "The Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". 1

The RoHS standards adopted by countries all over the world are based on the IEC62321 standard.

The new European RoHS is CE/RoHS certified Directive 2011/65/EU.

European CE-RoHS is mandatory and is part of CE's other.

China RoHS is a voluntary certification.

The US RoHS is a voluntary certification and is enforced by the CPSC.

Japanese RoHS is a voluntary test.

          Harmful Substance:

RoHS lists a total of six hazardous substances, including: lead Pb, cadmium Cd, mercury Hg, hexavalent chromium Cr6+, polybrominated diphenyl ether PBDE, polybrominated biphenyl PBB.

    Reason for launch

For the first time, it was noted that electrical and electronic equipment contained heavy metals that were harmful to human health. In 2000, cadmium was found in cables in a number of marketed gaming machines in the Netherlands. In fact, the solder and box-printing inks currently used in the production of electrical and electronic products contain harmful heavy metals such as lead.

    Certification

It is to prevent the incorporation and use of components and materials in electrical and electronic equipment, including substances that are prohibited from use in environmentally-controlled substances, plans to abolish substances, and reduce substances (hazardous substances). Protect the global environment and mitigate the deteriorating impact on ecosystems, protect human health, and safeguard the sustainable and healthy development of human society.

    Implementation time

The European Union implemented RoHS on July 1, 2006, when electrical and electronic products using or containing heavy metals and PBDEs such as PBDE and PBB PBB will not be allowed to enter the EU market.

    Test Methods

The relevant products are sent to professional laboratories for testing. The products are divided into single materials and tested with uniform materials, including lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). If the six hazardous substances meet the requirements of the RoHS Directive, if they meet the requirements, they can obtain the RoHS qualified report and certificate. If they do not meet the requirements, they must find another product that meets the requirements for replacement.
